Artist Description:
‘Ciúineas' (kee-yoo-ness) is an ancient Irish word, drawn from the language of my ancestors, that describes a deep quiet arising from environmental stillness. In this portrait, I explore belonging as a state shaped by attentive presence within the natural world: a form of nourishment found in being held by one’s surroundings and in the quiet, solitary moments through which we come to feel rooted to place.
My broader practice centers on material and atmospheric explorations of the relationship between self and landscape, often drawing on ecological processes, place-based research, and mythic or linguistic frameworks.
